A
door into an old tile roofed barn leads off the main lawn. This was one
of the farm buildings, while Docwra's Manor was the centre of a working
farm. When we arrived, more than fifty years ago, we could hear cattle
mooing. The courtyard beyond has now been paved in old York stone, with
a small pool of water lilies in the middle. The walls have ceanothus,
wisteria, roses and hydrangea. A tree fern takes over one corner behind
a Victorian wrought iron seat. If the sun is shining, this is a good place
to sit and think.
